3 Ways Journaling can help manage Anxiety
In our fast-paced and digitally driven world, the simple act of putting pen to paper may seem archaic and antiquated. One of the benefits of writing down your thoughts is that it allows you to identify patterns in your thinking. This can be especially helpful when dealing with anxiety, since there are times when it can be difficult to pinpoint what triggers your negative thoughts and emotions. By keeping a journal, you can start to recognize recurring themes or situations that lead to increased anxiety and overthinking. With this awareness, you can begin to take steps to develop coping mechanisms to manage them more effectively. We find our power in being able to manage anxiety and not having our anxiety manage us.
Forgiveness: You can be the judge, jury, and executioner
Forgiveness is about being able to love yourself enough to say, I don’t have to agree with what they’ve done. However, I forgive them for not being able to see that they wronged me. I forgive them because I don’t want to cause myself any more health issues related to this unforgiveness. I don’t have to accept the person in my life, but I do deserve to have peace of mind, restored mental health and a healthy body. I choose to move forward with my life with a new sense of vim and vigor. I surrender the weight of this unforgiveness and welcome a lighter and freer version of myself.
Mind your busyness
Friendships tend to go through changes. Family relationships go through changes. These relationships naturally evolve and grow as time passes, or fizzle out and eventually dissolve. What does all the busyness mean though?
“I’m too busy to do the laundry this week.”
“I’m too busy to go for my yearly physical.”
"I'm too busy to get the car an oil change.”
“I’m too busy to update my resume and apply for that new job.”

Kimmie from The Block
I’m still Kimmie from the block! Ha! Some things change and other things remain the same. I was affectionately called Kimmie by my mom. As a little girl growing up in Da Boogie Down Bronx, I went to public school in the neighborhood. My mother was a foster parent and we always had at least two foster children in the home in addition to the two other biological siblings that were raised with me.
